Just over ten years ago, longtime friends and rhythm section mates in the vibrant traditional jazz scene in Toronto, Glenn Anderson (drums) and Jack Zorawski (bass) brought to fruition a longtime dream having a band that would perform songs from traditional jazz sources and explore the diverse musical genres and culture of the Crescent City. Roberta Hunt (piano/lead vocals) was a mainstay in Grossman's Tavern every Saturday afternoon with the longstanding traditional jazz band The Happy Pals for over 14 years before joining Red Hot Ramble. The addition of Juno-nominated reed player/vocalist Alison Young and trombone great Jamie Stager completed the core quintet known as Red Hot Ramble! They play a blend of genres that have created the New Orleans musical sound. From traditional jazz and blues to funky street music, second lines, Latin and many other genres that have been celebrated around the world.
Red Hot Ramble has recorded three albums, a holiday single and performed a decade long residency to packed houses at The Rex Hotel in Toronto. Performances include:
TD Toronto Jazz Festival, TD Niagara Jazz Festival, Lakefield Arts, Crafts & Jazz Festival, Haliburton Highlands Museum Jazz Series, Merrickville Jazz Festival, All-Canadian Port Hope Jazz Festival, The Forest Festival along with venues big and small throughout Southern Ontario!
