Captivating Brazilian singer/songwriter Luanda Jones has been mesmerizing audiences with her fluid vocals, touching lyricism and enveloping charm. Her style, rooted in the suave, jazz-inflected and rhythmically traditional moods of leading Brazilian musical exports like João Gilberto and Gilberto Gil, has swelled greatly of late to encompass the more rambunctious sounds of funk and afrobeat, with a few electronic experimentations thrown in for good measure. Each of these welcomed sonic additions are the result of the fruitful travels that have taken Luanda across the globe, from London to Moscow, Paris to Madrid and back to her current home in Toronto, where she’s had the pleasure of sharing stages with an ever-growing list of esteemed artists, including Guinga, Badi Assad, Hendrik Meurkens, Pedro Luis, and Carmen Souza. Luanda will be sharing the stage with great musicians, based in Toronto.
